Glimmer made it through the night, but she is very weak. She did take some water at about 6:30am, and she was able to eat a little bit. Roger took her outside, intending to give her at least a little walk, but she was only able to make it to the house three doors down from us. She is just too weak for anything else.
The diarrhea seems to have stopped. Glimmer has not had any more accidents since the last one, which was around 2am. She is now in her kennel, resting. Her feeding schedule will be changed so that she has very small amounts over the course of the day. Her tummy is sensitive from all the vomiting and her colon is sensitive from all the diarrhea. Giving her small amounts of food over the course of the day seems like a wise choice, and may actually be of benefit to her.
Should a repeat of last night occur today, I will be taking Glimmer to the emergency clinic.
Further updates on Glimmer’s condition will be posted as needed. Thank you to everyone who has offered suggestions and insights into this situation both here and on Facebook. I appreciate it very much.
